Role of Meditation in Malaika Mihambo's win

Malaika Mihambo: Meditation is key for my preparations because I think meditation helps you to set your focus together. It helps us to keep focused over a long period of time on one single thing. It's also important because you learn how to somehow withdraw from the pressure that's going on with you that distracts you and just focus on the moment and the moment you have right now. Every chance you have at that moment.

I'm zeroing in on self-reflection in light of the fact that the considerations you have are your everyday organization and furthermore some way or another settle on progress or not. What are my Worries today? where could my feelings of dread today be? what's more, I am constantly worried about tracking down viewpoints new viewpoints on issues that inconvenience me in some way or another in one or the manner, so that is the way I center my day-to-day existence around things that prevent my athletic presentation yet in addition to my own life as a simply typical person.

I Really love those intense meditation retreats, where you focus on meditation for Hours and hours. One day I had one meditation course that last for 10 days. It was in silence so no speaking, not really writing, and no kind of communication except being by oneself and that was very tough, one of the toughest things I did in my life.  It's something that makes me stronger.

Malaika Mihambo on music

Malaika Mihambo: Music is a really great balance for me because it's something different than sport. Sport is a more powerful technique and just somehow performs, music is also about technique but more about expressing myself, feeling, and emotions by interpreting different kinds of songs. when it comes to piano music, I am really into classical piano music, like Chopin or Debussy, and also Bach. These are composers, which I really admire. For me, Sport is more about feel-good music. So no deep classic music, nothing slow more, something with rhythm and a text that make me feel good, that gives me some additional confidence and strength.

Malaika Mihambo on her achievements

Malaika Mihambo: Those were pretty, pretty outstanding achievements. So, I really respect and for sure, it's something where I also want to grow further, improve myself and see how close I can reach to those performances. I think after 2016, I'm focusing on myself and this kind of inner competition to grow as a person, to grow as an athlete, to improve technical issues, and just be a better athlete and perform better. So the competition within myself and with myself is what inspires me, that keeps me motivated every day. (Source: Olympic)
